My Story

My journey as a refugee ignited a deep-seated passion for education advocacy, driving me to champion the cause of educational equality for refugees. Presently, I serve with distinction as a UN Women UK Delegate for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), a Young Champion for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and a Global Youth Ambassador for Theirworld.

My name is Korrine Sky, and my life's journey has transformed me into a staunch advocate for the right to education, a conviction born from my own identity as a former refugee. The upheaval I witnessed fleeing the war in Ukraine provided not only a profound insight into the harsh realities of displacement but also ignited my determination to aid those caught in the throes of conflict. With a resolve steeled by experience, I channeled my energies and platforms into a campaign that resonated widely, raising over 300,000 GBP to help my African counterparts flee the turmoil. This effort not only provided immediate relief but also caught the attention of global influencers, earning me recognition as one of the 100 most influential people of African descent, a testament to the United Nations' vision.

My advocacy took a pivotal turn in September 2022, when I had the distinct honour of addressing the international community at the United Nations Transforming Education Summit. The event was a testament to my ongoing commitment and led to my role as a Young Champion for Refugees with UNHCR and a United Nations Women Delegate for CSW67. It was a profound validation of my work when my efforts were mentioned in the United Nations Security Council in 2022, a moment that underscored the impact of my mission on the global stage.

Each hurdle I have cleared on my personal odyssey has only served to intensify the joy I find in catalysing change for others. I am fervently committed to the idea that access to education should know no barriers—be they social, economic, or political. My dedication is to construct a future where education is the great equalizer, the means by which every person may prosper.

Upon my return to the UK, the challenge of starting anew presented itself. Yet, this was an opportunity disguised as an obstacle, leading to the inception of my businesses: KS Creatives, VirtuTask, and Prints and Gifts Co. These ventures are embodiments of my dedication to innovation, tenacity, and the educational revolution. They serve as conduits for my aspiration to create a world where the chance to excel is a universally accessible right, not a selective privilege. Through this intertwined matrix of advocacy and entrepreneurship, I continue to stitch together my dream of an inclusive world, where education is the cornerstone of opportunity for every refugee, for every dreamer, for every individual striving for a brighter tomorrow.
